Post Discussion Questions
Do Now #1 Ecosystem Events and Relationships
Complete the data Table and answer questions 5, 6, and 7 in your notebook.
What does it mean when one organism is dependent on another?
When does competition occur?
Do organisms rely on specific factors to survive?
Example: Organisms depend on many factors to survive. For example the hawk relies on the water to survive. Plant eating animals eat grass and the hawk eats the plant eating animals. During times of drought and when the grass is gone the plant eating animals become limited the hawk population will suffer.
DAY 2: Ecosystem Interactions Activity
9 Most abundant Species
DAY 3: Ecosystem Interactions Activity
What interactions are happening between the sun and the plants?
What interactions are happening between the plants and primary producers?
What interactions are happening between the sun and secondary consumers?
What interactions are happening between the producers and water?
What interactions are happening between the consumers and water?
DAY 4: Ecosystem Interactions Continued
Scenario 1: A pattern of rain producing multiple heavy storms in the same area cause floodwaters to crest.
Scenario 2: A volcano erupts, sending a plume of ash into the atmosphere for five weeks.
Scenario 3: A severe drought occurs and lasts for multiple consecutive years.
Scenario 4: A tourist attraction of exotic non-native species is built in the area. The company goes out of business and releases all of the animals into the local environment. This introduces a new top level consumer to the environment.
